Every campfire story had to start somewhere. Tape Report goes looking for them at the source — the urban legends, the mythmaking, the modern lore that begins with a real person saying "you're not going to believe this."
Each episode opens with the click and whir of an analogue tape recorder. Then a voice: The Investigator: Special Agent Vincent Caldoni of the Department of Inexplicable Phenomena.
What follows is the subject's story, told in their own words, with Caldoni doing as little as possible beyond keeping the tape rolling. These are the accounts that surface late, when the fire's burning low and the cooler's nearly empty. Encounters with the paranormal. Near-misses with death. Fortean occurrences. Coincidences so strange they stop feeling like coincidences.
For YouTube and video platforms, Tape Report extends its analogue philosophy to the image itself — shot on vintage VHS cameras, the footage carries the same warm, slightly unreliable quality as the stories being told. Tracking errors and tape hiss feel less like limitations and more like evidence.
Tape Report is a bastion of Analog Horror, Storytelling, and gleeful weirdness. It's a little campy, but serious in its curiosity about why people tell the stories they do, and what those stories reveal about how we make sense of the world, individually and collectively.
Produced by filmmaker and audio enthusiast Vincent Caldoni on vintage professional equipment, each episode runs around twenty minutes — just long enough to make you wonder if you heard something outside.

No, but it really helps. We have a system to do interviews online and remotely but we strongly prefer in-person interviews. That said, if you’ve got a cracklin’ good story, we want to work with you!
YES! Please refer as many people as you possibly can.
The interview is simple. You’ll sit down and “the investigator” will confirm your name and state the time and date for the record. You will then be prompted to speak about what you saw. The story should run 10-20 min. The investigator may ask you to clarify certain aspects or probe for relevant details. When the tale is complete, the investigator will thank you for your time and record the end date/time.
The interview set is small and kind of goofy; you’ll be recorded by a genuine VHS camera from the 1980s. It’s important to feel comfortable and relaxed. Let us know what we can do to make your time with us more fun, productive, and focused on telling your story. You will be asked to sign a release, which can be furnished in advance.
Yes! We prefer it! We want you to feel at ease. That said, we do ask you to limit your escort to just one person as space can be cramped.
We love the roughness that comes from ordinary people telling their story, but coming in with your story clear in your head, the order of events down, and the key details shared gives the story the vibe it needs.
Good advice: Do it up! Wear a cool vintage outfit. Dress like it’s back in the day to go with the VHS theme. It can be bombastic, silly, or subtle—don’t hesitate to make the interview your own by showing off. We love vintage fashion (70s, 80s, 90s, etc.). Bring any photos, physical evidence, props, or even artwork of the incident you may have created.
Yes. But a parent or guardian will need to accompany you and sign a release on your behalf.
We don’t fact check, but if it feels fake in the telling, or if it feels like you don’t take it seriously, we are not likely to air it. In the case of most of these stories we won’t be able to verify what happened, but if you don’t believe what you’re saying, don’t expect us or the audience to.

We prefer that you don’t curse, but if something slips out don’t worry about it—just keep going.

We love repeat subjects! So the answer is yes, but it’s unlikely your episodes will air very close to each other, so we try to space subjects out.
